Anthropocene
With an ironic sense of humor, I aim to present a striking portrayal of a planet Earth in chaos. An oracular deity is born out of environmental cataclysm, representing a glimmer of hope. A human figure emanates from sinuous tree roots while clutching a primate skull as his head explodes with a technology wastestream, symbolizing the complex relationship between modernity and ancient lineage. Through this series, I explore the human epoch on our planet, encompassing our evolution from hunter-gatherer beginnings to our reliance on fossil energy, the decline of suburbia, and the impact of natural disasters. The artwork reflects on the devastating effects of the war machine, the unchecked power of nations, as well as the sobering realities of climate change and mass extinction, epitomizing the anthropocene era. My aim is to underscore our place in this epoch, capturing the essence of our collective plight in this pivotal human time.
